Bonus miner or strong miner? How to compare in RollerCoin

Bonus miner or strong miner? How to compare in RollerCoin
Art: RollTheCal.

Two people can buy the same miner and gain very different amounts. That happens because a miner adds in two ways: through its own power and through the bonus it applies to the whole room. This guide shows the formula and compares the Roller Vice season miners in three rooms.

The formula

For a new miner, one you do not have in your room yet:

Added power = miner power × (1 + room bonus) + miner bonus × (miner total + miner power)

The math comes from the model explained in how power and bonus work, checked against the game's league bar. It leaves out rack bonus, which depends on where the miner sits.

What the table shows

In the beginner room, power rules. Remote Disrespect (500 Ph/s, 2%) adds 662 Ph/s, well above Noise Complaint (350 Ph/s, 7%), which adds 486 Ph/s. With a low miner total, each 1% bonus is worth only 1 Ph/s.

In the advanced room, the order flips. Noise Complaint adds 3.21 Eh/s and passes Remote Disrespect at 3.12 Eh/s, even with 150 Ph/s less power. In this room, each 1% is worth 180 Ph/s.

The smallest miner improves more than it seems. License to Crash has only 16 Ph/s, but adds 268 Ph/s in the advanced room: over 16 times its own power. About two thirds of that comes from the bonus.

Why physical size matters too

Room space is limited. If two miners add a similar amount, prefer the one with fewer cells, because it leaves space for another miner. To compare miners of different sizes, divide the added power by the number of cells.

Three checks before buying

Do the math with your room

The three examples above only show the logic. For your case, open the RollTheCal calculator, load your profile and test the miner in the simulator. It already counts bonus, copies, racks and league. If you are weighing a pass, also read the Roller Vice season analysis.
