Miner copies don't add bonus in RollerCoin

One of the most common mistakes in RollerCoin is placing two identical miners in the room thinking both will add their bonus. They don't: each miner's bonus % counts only once. Understanding this changes the way you build your room.
The rule
Your room's total bonus % is the sum of the bonuses of the different miners. If you place a second miner identical to one already in the room, it adds only its power. The bonus doesn't count again.
What counts as a copy
A copy is the same miner at the same level. Miners of the same model at different levels are not copies: each level has its own power and bonus, and they all add up.
| Situation | Does the bonus add? |
|---|---|
| Pixel-Boss level 4 + Pixel-Boss level 5 | Yes, both (different levels) |
| Snack Tin 800 Ph/s + another Snack Tin 800 Ph/s | Only the first. The second adds power only |
| Two different miners, each with 2% | Yes, 4% in total |
We checked this with a real room: the sum of the bonuses of the different miners, without the copy, matched exactly the bonus shown by the game.
How much it changes in practice
In a room with about 18,000 Ph/s of miners, each 1% of bonus is worth about 180 Ph/s. Imagine a miner with 14% bonus and 800 Ph/s:
- as a new miner in the room, it adds its power multiplied by the room bonus, plus 14% × 18,000, about 2,500 Ph/s from the bonus alone;
- as a copy, it adds only its power multiplied by the room bonus. The 14% bonus doesn't count.
When a copy is worth using
- When there's free space in the racks and you have no other different miner to place.
- When you want to fine-tune your power by a small amount, for example to get close to the league limit without passing it. Since a copy adds only power, it's great for small adjustments.
- When the copy is very strong in power and its bonus is small.
How to find copies in RollTheCal
- Room & Simulator → Copies button: highlights the miners in the layout that aren't adding bonus.
- Miners → tick Copies only: lists only the repeated miners and where each one is.
- Inventory: miners already in the room show the warning “already in room: bonus doesn't add”, and the “If placed” value already takes this into account.
The optimizer also accounts for copies: it prefers different miners and only uses a copy when it helps get closer to your league limit.
