Skip Rest Item: how to cut your hamster's rest time
RollerCoin created the Skip Rest Item, an item that reduces your hamsters' rest time between Expeditions. It works like a speed-up, but for resting.
How to use it
- It works on any hamster that is resting.
- It can only be used while there is rest time left, and not during an Expedition.
- You don't choose the amount: the game calculates and uses what's needed. If you don't have enough, it uses them all and reduces what it can.
How many items you need
Each item removes 1 full hour of rest, and the count always rounds up:

Where to get it
At launch, the only way was the Jack O’Mine hamster, with his Skip Rest Chest ability. Now the Roller Vice season also gives these items.
What each item really yields
The item always counts as a full hour, so the time cut per item changes with the clock. We did the math:

The practical rule: use it when the clock is just below or exactly on a full hour. Never right after one. At 3h01m, waiting 1 minute saves a whole item.
How it combines with rest abilities

Hypothetical example: a 10-hour rest would need 10 items. With -40%, it would drop to 6 hours and need 6 items. So cutting rest first usually saves more items than it seems. Check in the game how percentages add up in your combination.
RollTheCal tips
- Use it on full hours: at 3h01min you spend 4 items; wait 1 minute and you spend only 3.
- Save them for events: in short events, getting your hamster back on an Expedition earlier is worth more.
- Don't use it on short rests: 10 minutes left still cost a whole item.
Update: Skip Rest in the Roller Vice season
The Roller Vice season brings 168 Skip Rest Items, from November 3 to December 8. Over 35 days, that averages 4.8 hours of rest cut per day. For a hamster with 8 hours of rest, 168 items clear 21 full rests. If you use several hamsters, share them first with those going on the longest Expeditions.
The Hamster Gym also ends in the normal rest, so the item can help you get back right after training.
